Evaluation marking

Level 3 12–15 marks • There is proficient skill in the use of digital technology or ICT in the evaluation. • There is proficient understanding of the forms and conventions used in the productions. • There is proficient understanding of the role and use of new media in various stages of the production. • There is proficient understanding of the combination of main product and ancillary texts. • There is proficient understanding of the significance of audience feedback. • There is proficient skill in choice of form in which to present the evaluation. • There is proficient ability to communicate. Excellent first evaluation. Kate used the screen shots to ably demonstrate links between her own product and real music videos. I would have like a shot of Button Moon though! Kate demonstrates a clear link between her video and ancillary texts. I think the response she got from the band was absolutely lovely but this post lacks a little in depth and some evidence of the feedback would ha...

My Website

Image
Here is the link to my website.  I constructed this website using the provider 'wix', they offer a wide templates and themes for entrepreneurs, business owners and artists to create websites that suit their brand and product. I used the template provided by designer Cameron Young, copyright 2023.  The first page of my website hosts a playlist created by the 'band', though I only listed the song I have permission to use, which is 'Go!' The text reading 'the race for space   out now' is fixed as a strip that stays tight, and thus doesn't move along with the pages of the website, it reinforces its message. I tried to maintain a strictly lower-case, calibri bold typography aesthetic throughout the website, straying only when grammatically necessary. Navigation tools and social media networks are also glued at the top and bottom left side of the site, as audiences read from left to right, and human eyes are naturally drawn to inspect corners.  ...

Completed Digipak

Image
My digipak is made from the traditional material of classic CD packaging designs, folding card. I constructed this digipak using recycled card and printed glossy paper to give a professional and sleek feel, whilst not being overly picky with the conciseness of the cutting work on the cover, as I felt it added to the rustic and raw feel of the album itself, and accurately portrays how the band would want to be presented.  It is a regular six panel digipak with two edges for folding, with two spines separating the thirds. I created a lyric booklet to go inside the cover and create an interactive device. I chose not to put the entire lyrics on the page as it would have distracted from the artwork behind the text, and may have looked messy. I think simply putting the choruses on the pages adds a nice minimalist feel and portrays the messages of the songs well.  Lyric booklets are a generic convention of digipaks, and while it was not a requirement in the context...

How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

Image
I photographed pieces on set of the main production scene of my music video. All of my ancillary texts include imagery and iconography from the 'space scene' in my main product as I felt this reflected my intended meaning well. In terms of audience reception theory, my main product is intended to be interpreted as a goofy, 'B roll footage' type piece, it is intentionally rough around the edges. I planned it to be that way. By using images of the child actors in my ancillary texts, which are far more polished and refined than my main product, I am juxtaposing the two concepts of professionalism and spontaneous, raw creativity; whilst also incorporating the main theme of my entire project, which was the idea of childhood innocence and being able to flourish, despite being under adult supervision.  When watching back on my main product, I hope it can be noticed that my intended meaning as creative director and producer is that I represented the song to  be about the...

Production marking

Level 3 The candidate is expected to demonstrate proficiency in the creative use of most of the following technical skills: • shooting material appropriate to the task set; including controlled use of the camera, attention to framing, variety of shot sizes and close attention to mise en scene • editing so that meaning is apparent to the viewer and making selective and appropriate use of shot transitions, captions and other effects • recording and editing sound with images appropriately. Where a candidate has worked in a group, a proficient contribution to construction is evident. I like the idea for the video and you set it up very well. There are some issues with lip-synching but I think doing that to spoken word is very difficult. There are still a couple of issues in the 'chorus' section and that should have been easier. My other criticism is that the video is a little repetitive. I appreciate the song is repetitive but perhaps you could have had more variety in the ...
